Painting is one of the most imposing and majestic attainments of mankind. To gaze at that unspeakable art which Horace describes as: „A picture is poem without words!“, is always an exceptional experience for me. Above all I love the Renaissance, no matter how long I study and admire the paintings from that period, I still can't fathom how much of a genius was hidden in people who painted so faithfully that it seems like their figures will address to us at any moment. Unfortunately, similar works are hard to encounter nowadays, and some point out that the Renaissance was a specific era of perticular talents. Ananda Coomaraswamy for example had a different opinion and once stated: „The artist is not a special kind of person, rather each person is a special kind of artist.“ Such theory is only half acceptable to me, I believe for instance that creation of Mona Lisa required an extraordinary and unparalleled person, but I agree that a certain type of artist is latent within all of us. Everyone who uses makeup could be perceived as a kind of artist, because while the painters had an empty canvas which they populated with forms and colors, we have our face to which we initially apply the liquid foundation and/or powder and with the help of blush, highlighter and eyeshadows we continue to play until we achieve the desired effect. It's incredible to what extent the makeup can transform and beautify the face, and one person well aware of that verity is Anastasia Soare, the originator of Anastasia Beverly Hills brand, whose liquid lipstick in Soft Lilac hue instantly inflicted allurement on me.
On
every occasion I'm fascinated by the stories of people who, despite all the troubleing
circumstances in life, struggled for themselves and proved that it is possible
to materialize the dream, it's only necessary to have credence, to be dilligent
and dedicated in the efforts. One of them is Anastasia Soare, who in 1989.
emigrated from Romania to USA with her daughter, without the knowledge of
English language and any financial resources. However, that didn't prevent her
in reaching the „American Dream“. She was hired in a cosmetic salon where she
swiftly detected that the eyebrows are being grossly unattended and that they
occupy a negligible, symbolic feature in facial treatments. In view of her
university diploma in history of arts, she was undobtedly acquainted with the
significance of properly sculpted eyebrows and very much familiar with the
modus of the Renaissance artists – when they wished to alter the emotions on
their subject's faces, they modified the visage of their brows. Benefiting from
her professional expertise, in 1990. she introduced a nouveau Golden Ratio Eyebrow Shaping Method and
launched an authentic revolution, establishing a new permanent category in the
modern beauty industry.
The
golden ratio, referred to as the „divine proportion“ as well, is considered to
be the ultimate, unsurpassed and absolutely perfect cut in nature, and with its
euphonious equillibrium between explicit precision and chaotic disbalance, it
provokes the direct, sublimely comprehensive pleasantness in the eye of the
beholder. Over the millenia the great and notable thinkers like Pythagoras,
Leonardo da Vinci and Albert Einstein, documented that the human eye is encoded
to recognize the golden cut, the nature's universal design fractal. The
mathematical correlation recorded by the letter in Greek alphabet phi, in which a smaller part relates to
the larger as the larger to the whole, indicates the key in discovering
equipoise, symmetry and beauty. Inspired by this ancient ratio, Anastasia
devised the unique method – following these principles, she had an opportunity
to outline a series of arches that ideally frames and matches any face shape.
She herself said: „Our eyes are
intrinsically trained to spot divine proportion and immediately associate it
with beauty and harmony.“ By virtue
of her technique she delighted millions of women around the world, finally
bestowing them with a reason to be proud of their flawlessly sculpted eyebrows.
Also, quite deservedly, she received numerous awards and accolades for her
work.
Although
eyebrows products assumes the basis of Anastasia
Beverly Hills commerce, one of the fastest growing in the world today, the
business is expanded to eyeshadow palettes and items for the lips, and I was
personally attracted to liquid lipstick in Soft
Lilac nuance.
The
lipstick is characterized by a liquid, minutely pigmented formula which dries
up to weightless matte finish and provides long lasting coloration, produces
the appearance of plumper lips and entire day persistency. It's available in 45
shades amply diversiful for customizing, which means it's practicable to mix
and adjust them without the loss of dye. The packaging consist of transparent
tube through which the hue is visible, silver coverlid with double sided flat
utensil and rounded pinnacle that distributes the optimal amount for meticulous
application. The lipstick, accompanied by a scent typical for all liquid
variants, instantly desiccates upon touching the lips and when I apply it I
don't get the impression of having anything on them. Exceptionally lightweight
and pretty „stubborn“, it doesn't demand fix-ups, regardless of whether we eat
or drink in the meantime. Even while I'm removing it, I have to use two or
three swabs to completely eliminate it. Despite the matte quality, it doesn't
dry my lips and that argument lists it as my favorite in this transitional,
winter to spring, season.
A
substantial number of 45 shades indeed supports a suitable choice, from lighter
to darker nude, pink, coral, red to
peculiar blue. Soft Lilac is pale
violet and albeit I never thought I would decorate my lips with that color, it
is so neutral and unobtrusive that I can carelessly wear it in daytime.
I
would go so far and argue that makeup is a contemporary fashion of painting
with different canvas and disparate materials – colors from palettes, lipsticks
and the fact that at the end of each day we wipe off our „work of art“, wash
our face and in the morning we start again with yet another painting.
Have
you tried some of the Anastasia Beverly
Hills liquid lipstick nuances? What are your impressions? Write me in the
comments.

I like stubborn lipsticks. I hate ones who transfer too easily because I always forget to touch up! Hahahaha! I had no idea about her backstory so thanks for sharing, it was very fascinating and so inspiring. I've never really tried anything from this brand, not that I didn't want to, just didn't have an occasion for it really. But I might look into the liquid lipstick. I also love matte's but hate ones that dry you out. So this all sounds perfect for me.

I agree that there is an artist within all of us, but the painters of Renaissance period were indeed superior artists. There are great artists today as well, yet we still have a lot to learn from the masters of the old.
ReplyDeleteI'm head over heels for this majestically stunning shade, soft lilac is to die for! It looks so babin' and beautiful, and your flowers make it pop like pure paradise :) It's definitely the most perfect shade for the upcoming spring and summer seasons. Truly gorge! ♥︎
