SELF - WORTH

The iron bar costs mere 5 $, but if we produce horseshoes out of it the price climbs to 12 $, for needles it's 3500 $ and balance springs for watches are in the range of 300 000 $. Accordingly, our worth is also based on what we're capable of becoming. This data prompted me to pause for a brief instant and ponder about how many people are indeed aware of their own self-worth, do they think of it at all and in which manner they measure it. Sadly, it's often appraised by material stuff, rank, looks or what someone possess as a status symbol and what he/she simply paid with money, while recently it's attested in number of followers on social networks and the amount of likes. However, that's hardly an indicator of anything substantial, because if all of this would be stripped or taken away, I wonder how much such individual would really worth. Personal worth can only be assessed by our deeds and accomplishments, by something we earned through our efforts, work, dedication and commitment, which leads to gratifying sense of contentment, happiness and fulfillment, instead of frivolous snobbery and vanity that is striving to confirm itself in outer appearance. True value lies in what we are, not in what we're publicizing ourselves with, especially if that kind of self-promotion is utterly unfounded, without any merit and for the sake of itself.
Understanding who we are, what are our virtues and noble traits and by which criteria we quntify our worth improves the self-esteem, which in my comprehension is a crucial, I dare to argue the essential aspect of beauty. Self-confident people shines with a particular aura, they're not necessarily most attractive in physical terms in some company or gathering, but still everybody wants to be in their presence. It's a common mistake to consider those loudest as self-confident, more likely they're just desperately trying to be the focal point and draw the general attention which nourish the insecurities hidden deep inside them. People sure of themselves can troublelessly stand secluded, in silence, without any need for being noticed. As one remarkable sentence states: „I know what I bring to the table. So, trust me when I say I'm not afraid to eat alone.“ That's why the confidence and self-reliance are my best and most beautiful everyday outfits.
It's instrumental to be attuned with our personal worth and not to wait the recognition and frantically seek validation from our surroundings. When we begin to doubt ourselves or let the others to evaluate us, they'll gladly do so, but their outlook will inevitably be less than our genuine value, and then we're walked right into a trap of constant proving something to somebody, slowly forgetting who we are and why we do it, spinning in a vicious circle with no exit. When we know exactly how much we worth than nobody has the power to make us believe that we're worthless, and from those who underestimates and doesn't appreciate us it's better to move away immediately. Our lives depend solely on us, they are our responsibility and we should never allow others to create them for us, nor to accept that everyone else is more important and to be submissive to their judgement and sway. Nowadays, due to massively branched social media, numerous people from the safety of their homes are expressing opinions and arbitrates about more or less heard of persons, resulting in a lack of self-credence of the latter. I frequently encounter that phenomena in the community of Instagram influencers, youtubers and bloggers incessantly exposed to criticism, who under pressure stoop in the activities expected by the audiences, finally losing the compass and withdrawing from the scene. Before we commence with anything, we have to determine our worth and qualities, and then develop our potential and career. Than no one will be able to shake us and we shan't endlessly question ourselves, we'll live and work in our own way, the one that satisfies us, regardless of diverse attitudes of different people. We must reconcile with the fact that there always will be the ones who'll support us, but likewise the ones who won't. Whatever you hear from others, be certain that you are worthy and never doubt it.

  6. You summarized it very well! Unfortunately, ignorants judge others by their appearance, only wise people will think before they judge.

  14. That's a good post, love the concept behind it. It's true, our self worth can be influenced by other things, but it's always from within and what we're willing to do with our confidence.

  22. I fear you are right that not all people are aware of their own self-worth. This is more than a pity and therefore, thanks a lot for this post. We are all precious in the way we are!

  25. I agree with you about self-worth. It is what we can make ourselves out of. Though, we need to be reasonable and realize that we shouldn't emphasize ourselves more than what we should. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  28. I agree with you completely. It is so easy to loose our compass and become someone we never wanted to become in the first place. I had a situation like that once, when I changed my behaviour because I felt like I'm expected to? I was afraid of public scrutiny and then suffered consequences for weeks. Thank you for this post, there's so much wisdom in your words.

  29. Hello
I know my value and I know that I am now undervalued in my work, this is my discussion with the companies with which I make partnerships. But the damn likes dictate the market value, but they don't show the unethical tactics that many influencers have, it's the jungle !!
