1ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE EXCLUSIVE BEAUTY DIARY

„Let the beauty of what you love be what you do!“ This quotation by Jalāl ad-Dīn Rūmī most precisely describes my guiding thread upon commencing The Exclusive Beauty Diary blog. I really love to write, it's something that makes me happy, in what I truly and deeply enjoy and in which I forget about time. Continuous informal education and discovering of new content is also an integral part of my life. Mutual exchange of advices and sharing of information with others particularly gratifies me and I regularly engage in such interaction with my family, friends and acquaintances, and thanks to the Internet I'm able to connect with the people around the world, people that I may never get to know in person. Another practice that is immanent to me and without which I can't imagine my everyday life is body care. I consider our body to be the temple and that we're obliged to properly care for it, both in terms of substances intake and with what we nurse it, and that is the very essence of my blog – skin care products, makeup and perfumes. Incidentally that's my unavoidable routine and the first step is, of course, skin care and I'm convinced that, if we show genuine concern, it will response with beautiful and healthy prospect. I employ makeup only to punctuate naturalness, rather then to drastically alter or hide anything with the help of it, while the last component is fragrances, the so-called personal signature which I notice/sense on individuals before everything else and by which I remember them. Magazines have always imposed unrealistic standards of beauty, but in my teenage years it was somewhat mellowed version compared to what we're dealing today, largely propelled by social networks. I recall how I myself was under pressure of the desire for attractive outer appearance and adherence to „prescribed“ norms, but in fact I would love to had even one person at that time who'd point out to me that looks aren't most important issue of life and that it is determined and incomparably surpassed by what we carry within ourselves, our inner beauty. It's a philosophy and approach that I advocate and which I strive to emphasize in every post, with the hope that it will positively affect even one life and one thought – that alone means a lot to me.
I can't believe that a whole year leaped since July 9th 2018. when I registered The Exclusive Beauty Diary domain. Devising a name turned out to be so interesting: I chose the word beauty first because my original intention was to focus on preparations for care and beautifying of the body, diary heralds the logical extension, in a form of descriptive catalogue of the products I use, of my long-kept personal journal, and exclusive marks the eponymous store where I usually shop. After the title was appointed, an exciting part followed – design of the blog which I executed independently, integrating the knowledge gained during my college studies of information sciences and YouTube tutorials. I'm unable to convey how enthusiastic I was about this challenge, I constantly changed, added, deleted and adapted something, playing as a little kid and at the same time learned quite a bit. Ultimately, I managed to achieve exactly what I fancied – unassuming white background that accentuate the products themselves, posts in Croatian and English language and lucid, easy-to-search sections. Given that I generally strive to improvement of my work, beside the Instagram, Facebook and Bloglovin' profile I've initiated YouTube channel as well, where I've been releasing videos which accompanied each post about certain product. However, I quickly realized that I don't feel comfortable, that it doesn't bring enough glee so I abandoned the idea and returned and devoted myself to my principal passion – the writing. Among other things I launched the Giveaway in which I wrote about the importance of spiritual grace, but then I recognized that a more appropriate label for these posts would be Inner Beauty so I set up a new segment, and another one soon after – Beauty Gadgets. Namely, by surfing the Internet I perceived a number of compelling devices acquirable on nowadays market, suitable for home use, whose primary purpose is beautification, so I decided to attempt to provide some relevant data.
One of the key aspects in whatever we do is authenticity and fidelity to our own style, and I try to reflect those tenets through my texts and photos, ie the combination of products and flowers. I adore flowers, especially roses, and they're most prominently featured, immersed in the theory of perpetuation: as you know they eventually withers away, while in this way, every time that someone views the post, as if they revives again and again. Apart from the products that I endeavor to depict as detailedly as possible, I've always been fascinated by the history of brands. It is altogether intriguing and with great verve and delight I explore and reveal less familiar facts from the rich background stories, because it's rarely mentioned and spoke of and the majority is mostly concentrated on the items. The assumption has proved to be correct, chiefly regarding the tales behind the creation of perfumes – they're adorable, appealing, controversial, provocative and stimulating. Statistically, so far I've published 122 posts, 61 if we don't count both in English and Croatian: Skin Care 22, Makeup 20, Fragrance 14, Beauty Gadgets 3 and Inner Beauty 2 – with the latter two I've started only recently. In the first year I've reviewed 30 brands that I trust and which products I use from long ago, and you can check the complete list in Brands rubric. I have no desire whatsoever to sell or impose anything to anybody via my blog, I'm writing about the products which I tested, which demonstrated as good or not so good and which I purchased for myself, and all of this is attested in my non-acceptance of 31 offered collaboration.
At the beginning of 2019. I was pondering of displaying a post with top products of previous year, but selecting the best ones from each category seemed somehow more agreeable. It immediately evolved into a highly difficult and demanding enterprise – all of them thrills me with their excellence and it was a complex task to sort out the favorites, but I eventually succeeded. In skin care this is Lancôme Advanced Génifique serum, inevitable in my rituals, I'm securing the sufficient supplies repeatedly and it's a savior for „bad skin days“; makeup is showbilled by Guerlain Rouge G 77, the most luxurious lipstick in my collection, and Miami Glam casing with dual mirror is simultaneously practical and elegant, while the texture, nuance and durability are absolutely perfect; perfumes provoked the „headache“, every single one is unique in its own way, each one captured me with some endearing peculiarity and I wear them with equal elation, but Chanel Chance Eau de Parfum prevailed – a refined glass bottle undeniably emanates the spirit of house Chanel, perhaps my most cherished brand, and the scent is sophisticated, timeless and, unlike the others with more of a seasonal character, ideal throughout the entire year.
The Exclusive Beauty Diary is my little corner of the Internet which I'm editing quotidianly and that makes me amazingly fortunate and verily proud. It was interesting to comprehend how it feels when you occupy yourself with something you love, because when I come back from my day job and no matter how tired I may be, it's never hard to work on the blog, to write new posts or to plan future steps, without having to be afraid of loss of inspiration – there are so many wonderful products that I haven't assessed yet. Why? The simplest and most straightforward answer is because it jollifies me, your comments are an elevating bonus and reward, as well as your liking of what I'm writing and the manner in which I'm doing so, and I'm blessed with an opportunity to familiarize indirectly with a lot of nice and supporting individuals. But even if there aren't any, if nobody would be reading, I'd still be doing it for me. I'm aware that many people doesn't understand my rationale, they're wondering why I'm spending my time and finances on something from which I can't extract any material profit, but I'm not bothered with this, everyone has their own path, and my typical reply is: because I'm happy and satisfied within myself, and that is invaluable and can't be bought or paid with money.

  5. Happy first anniversary to your blog. I always enjoy reading your posts because they are always so well written and interesting. You have a wonderful blogging philosophy. There are many bloggers who start their blogs only thinking of what they can get from it and not many who would say no to collabs just because they want to review only the products they truly love and know.

  22. Congratulations to your first year of blogging. Wishing you many, many more doing all that you love to do too. I've found Youtube a little daunting too. And now with so many requirements for views etc, it's just too hard and I don't have the time either. I also agree about growing up in a time where beauty pressures were more mellow than they are today. It was hard back then as a teenager, can't begin to imagine how much worse it would be with so much unrealistic expectation everywhere.

  34. Congratulations on your first year - what a big milestone! There have been so many times over my past year (and a half) that I've been ready to fold it up and call it quits (mostly early on when it seemed nobody was visiting my blog) and it takes a lot of work and determination to keep blogging - even when you love it! You always do an amazing job of finding products we love to know about and describing them, their history and giving us an honest review. I know I really appreciate that. And your photos are always beautiful (I love that you always use flowers). Here's to a wonderful second year!

Veliki pozz :).
