GIORGIO ARMANI ACQUA DI GIOIA

What is joy to you and what evokes it? I'm always fascinated how little children are cheerful about the world around them, how they absorb every tiny triviality with jubilant glare in their eyes and explore it with great and euphoric curiosity. I think that we can learn a lot from them or at least remember how we used to be, because oftentimes I ponder how majority of adults forgot what is pure and sincere mirth somewhere along the way. It's interesting that the first endeavor to which we have devoted ourselves is mere definition of the phenomenon, yet it still remains bewildering and unfathomable to many. Some grants it a merit of virtue, and some perceives it as an emotion and consequence of certain actions, events or realizations. Every individual characterize it by what is close and important to him, for some it's a material possession  – houses, vehicles, jewelry, clothing, for others it's achievements – college graduations, dream jobs, it also can be echoed in concordant and attuned relations with family, friends and partners, but only truly wise people advises that we should pursue felicity in each day of our lives, even in seemingly trifle and insignificant matters such as sonorous twitter of birds, melodious murmur of leaves, vibrantly wreathed polychrome twilights or sublime and fragile beauty of flowers, with which I personally agree in gargantuan absolute. There are those who mutually identify concepts of joy and happiness and say that we mustn't ever allow others or any circumstances to interfere, as well as those who divide them. Considerable number of artist, writers and philosophers embarked on a journey to illuminate the very quintessence of joy, Beethoven composed the memorable ode to honor it, while Giorgio Armani took a step further and decided to embody it in the scented notes of perfume collection di Gioia, literally meaning joy in Italian, from which I've chosen Acqua for myself.
The Essence of Nature assortment engirdles three more perfumes: Air di Gioia, Sky di Gioia and Sun di Gioia, and this year Light di Gioia was launched. Precisely the air, sky, sun, water and light are the most vivid memories on every vacation that I jealously treasure in my recollection. Months bathed in translucent glow, quiet whispers and song of waves, sunrises and sunsets in maelstroms of fairy nuances, serene nature in rhapsody of colors and scents, solemn chirp of crickets in somber shadows of low shrubbery, nonchalant floating on my back in the sea, in perfect equilibrium of sun ray's warmth and bracing, crisp buoyancy of endless water – those are the moments that refines my thoughts, rekindles the vigorous energy and elevates both ethereal verve and tangible physique.
Giorgio Armani unmistakably comprehended boons of the sea and nature and devised the perfumes motivated by annual holidays on Pantelleira and Antique islands, where he gleefully spends the summers in his villas. He was guided by the idea of escape to paradise realms, and the sensual symphony of the sea and olfactory serenade of dancing aromas inspired the creation of fragrance that personifies the woman of unfaltering, majestically dignified and free spirit. Therefore, sea associations are placed in the foreground, starting from glass, limpid and crystal clear bottle loosely based on mercurial droplet, to the odor itself.
Its mesmerizing expression is sphered and manifested in refreshing ensemble of lemon and crumbled mint leaves, the structure of its composition permanently flows from vivacious citrus to playfully floral chords in perfume's heart, ennobled by jasmine, dewy peony and pink pepper, while fervorous genesis is enshrouded by veil of palatial whiff of cedar, yellow sugar and cistus. Designers responsible for its emergence painted it as Eve's seductiveness scattered across infinite meanders of dazzling nature. In previous posts I've written how much I love to be consumed by it, what exuberance it awakens in the depths of my soul, how much every aspect of its opulence means to my existence, thus it's no surprise that this perfume unconditionally conquered the myriads of my senses and that it is one of my paramount heralds of actual summer. Each time I apply it on my body, as if I'm conveyed in a split second to the inaudible and peaceful shore, where I'm once again beholding in awe how the sun on ever darker horizon scintillate in vermilion fire and immerse into the embrace of the scarlet sea, emitting the last reflections of platinum twinkling on the magic mirror of its lulled surface. I'm immeasurably blessed to have these precious and bewitching reminiscences transmogrified into a bottled liquid and that I'm able, by simple opening, to summon them in reality and revive them at my leisured will.
Have you tried Acqua di Gioia or some other perfume from this line? What are your impressions? Write me in the comments.
Best wishes till the next post!

  2. This fragrance sounds wonderful! I love your description of joy in reminding us of how real it is in children and I love that the four versions of this "Joy" perfume are based on water, air, sky, sun and light. Your description of the Acqua is such a descriptive one, I could almost smell the perfume! Thank you for an amazing review - I definitely need to swing by the perfume counter and give this one a try.

  10. I haven't tried this perfume but I like its name- Acqua di gioia. I agree with what you said about how we can learn from kids. They can teach us about joy. Kids find joy in learning and I think that's so important- to keep learning new things. That's the key to joy to me. Perhaps I should try this perfume, it sounds lovely. Armani's perfumes are always great.

  33. It is true that children can usually enjoy the pure joy of little things even better than adults. Luckily, I have been able to maintain this ability and obviously you have, too.
A series of perfume called Joy (and Air, Sky, Sun, Water and Light) evokes beautiful associations!
Hugs and a happy new week!

I love scents and perfumes so much but its been really tough wearing them where I live because so many people have allergies these days and one has to tread with caution when wearing strong smelling scents. However, I can imagine that this one is light, airy and fresh to the senses. Would love to try it! - www.jamilakyari.com
