YSL BLACK OPIUM INTENSE NIGHT EDITION COUTURE PALETTE

Recently I've written how fascinated I am by the sky, how I love to behold the clouds throughout the day and admire the beauty of their everlasting shape-shifting game. However, to gaze at it at night, in silence, besieged by serene nature, creates an intimate atmosphere embowered in magic, where only two of us exist. I'm not exactly sure why, but I've always cherished black, for me it's a paragon of elegance and in a certain period of my life I entertained exclusively black clothing. As Og Mandino brilliantly explained by saying „I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.“, the night is its innate version, darkness that with its vehemence renders moon and stars even brighter, the celestial diamonds that reaches their full expression in contrast with tenebrous backdrop. Vincent van Gogh once proclaimed: „I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.“, and I personally do not contradict that at all. To sit on the balcony, especially in summer, listening to mysterious hoots of owls and melancholic lullaby of crickets, to absorb by glance the scintillating firmament that with its fluctuation permeates the endless quadrants of universe, unfolds and stages before my eyes the eternal and idyllic exposition ennobled with solemn enchantment of nocturnal aria's timbre. Starry sky was my first association when I saw YSL Black Opium Intense Night Edition Couture Palette.
It's inspired by the new Black Opium Intense perfume, so the packaging is embellished with black, dark blue and silver sequins that implies the night sky and the iconic, argent YSL logo. When I wrote about YSL Fuchsia in Excess and Fuchsia Intense lipsticks, I stated that in my opinion this brand can boast with one of the most beautiful emballages of its products, and this particular box is not an exception. Like YSL blushes and highlighters, it's golden on the back, while the front side is ornamented with spangles. The reason for this is limited edition character, which I just adore – they are unique, not produced in large numbers and sometimes hard to obtain. The palette itself appears lovely as a shelf decoration of a kind, but besides that it hides the shades that allows the creation of makeup look identical to the night sky.
In accordance with depiction on the box, the palette contains 5 nuances: slate blue in the upper left section, silvern highlighter in upper right, along with jet black, glittering blue and the absolute headliner that figuratively and actually occupies the central place, namely Blue Absinthe. They can be utilized independently for the instant touch of glamour, but also in layers for the Black Opium Night culmination. The shades of blue are reserved for the night as they're too suggestive during the day, when I prefer neutral tones. I've read that blue is the color of trust, confidence, honesty, friendship, logic and intellect, the color of mind which has an impact on mental level, while my favorite indigo blue stimulates the flow of thoughts and, as opposed to basic blue which communicates with other colors, symbolizes quiet inner contemplation. I sporadically apply it in one stroke as a day eyeliner, but much frequently for evening outings when I upgrade it to impressionable degree that accentuate and convey all the attention to the eyes. I wear silver one in the corner of my eye to further open it, and often my entire daily makeup consist of these two shadows.
Several times I devised smokey eye look using only two hues, for example slate blue and paillette blue or jet black and blue with tinsels, and the final outcome delighted me because they're extremely pigmented and consistent. Together they form a passionate, dark, opaque, mighty look intended for the brave and courageous, as if the night sky is literally painted on your eyelids. All you have to do is complement it with Black Opium Intense fragrance and answer the compelling and overwhelming call of the night.

The palette comes with brush and sponge applicator, but I rarely engage them as I favor my own brushes, and the mirror implemented in coverlid is perfect for checking and possible fix-ups. This couture item will bestow the magnetic allure to your eyes, one which shower you with undivided and captivating interest. Concurring with Vincent van Gogh, I too recognize the night as more exciting and buoyant than the day, with some inexplicable and extraordinary tremble of vivacious pulse – immerse and experience it without delay and hesitation!

  2. Gorgeous night time palette! The sky amazes me everyday with its beauty. The Van Gogh quote does resonate with me too even though I am a day person. The mystery of the night makes it feel more alive.
