ARMANI/PRIVÉ ROSE ALEXANDRIE

Scent is an important part of our identity and can tell more about us than our clothing or behavior, because many people notice it before they look us in the eye and make contact. Smell is also an extremely powerful sense capable of evoking certain memories and emotions, awake remembrance or relate stories. We are all conversant with divisions of art, and one of them classifies it into nine branches: music, drama, literature, painting, sculpture, architecture, film, dance and comics, while the definition explains that it is a distinct human activity which unites creative zeal, completed deed and its perception. I often ponder how I would establish a tenth level and occupy it with niche perfumes in which all of the above mentioned attributes permeates: spiritus movens of the perfumer who, through the optioning of specific components, embodies a unique artefact, in this case perfume and leaves it to the individual interpretation of the audience. As each person on the basis of previous life experience comprehends a literary work or theater piece, observes painting, sculpture or edifice, so everyone in their own private and intimate way delves into a mysterious labyrinth of sophisticated aromas. I reiterate that I don't dwell here about designers perfumes, but those niche, and my first encounter with them occurred when I was caressed by Armani/Privé Rose Alexandrie.
Upon adopting all theretofore disposable knowledge, Socrates asserted: „Now I know that I don't know anything.“ The statement may sound paradoxical, but it's in fact utterly logical: one learned fact hauls at least ten more of which we know nothing about, and it opens the horizons to completely unexpected revelations that expands indefinitely. That's precisely what happened to me with perfumes. Given the ambience in which I grew up and not so great opportunities it provided, for a long time I considered Chanel, Dior and Guerlain as pinnacles of perfume industry, and legendary No 5 seized the pivotal venue. However, gradually immersing into the world of perfumes, reading, exploring and detecting their constituents, I realized that a whole new galaxy hides behind it, more inaccessible, reserved for a confined clique of aficionados – the empire of niche perfumes.
Cambridge Dictionary describes the word niche as something that is interesting, oriented toward and affects the fewness, and the term is coined to illustrate rare types of perfumes that respires in eccentricity, are difficult to find and which arouse the curiosity of fastidious minority. Designer perfumes assumes the standard assortment of most well-equipped drugstores, magazines and television are swarming with ads, but niche perfumes require effort. They're sold in specialized shops and do not share shelves with mass-produced commodity. Once I accidentally stumble upon indicative question and answer: „Why the most expensive things aren't being advertised on TV? Because the people who can afford it doesn't watch TV!“ I didn't seriously thought about it, but it suddenly became clear to me that I never saw the showbill for Rolls Royce, Hermès Birkin or Kelly handbag anywhere, and I could continue with reputed jewelry and fashion houses and their almost surreal bling and haute couture collections. They don't promote their products via the usual marketing strategies, the customers have to roll their sleeves and endeavor to acquire it.
Haute couture epithet is ideally compatible with niche perfumes as they are elaborated using solely high quality natural ingredients and voluminous concentration of extracts, all for the purpose of incredible sensory stimulation. They're focused on preserving the genuine fragrance and lingers on the body for much longer, up to 12 hours. Of course they are costly, but due to exquisite caliber and durability the price is not unjustified, and limited editions that align them as elite collectible items definitely excludes you from the crowd. As far as my recollection reaches, I wasn't fond of fitting into default frames, I wanted to be different and recognizable by some feature, I was not attracted to prevailing trends or pursuit to mirror the same image as hundreds of others. I'm not judging such attitude, but blind following of imposed tendencies in my opinion means losing the part of our character and temperament. We are all singular and we're obliged to nurture and profile that aspect, and the people who decide for niche perfumes choose the exclusivity and originality with which they undoubtedly stand out from the multitude. For example, Chanel perfumes are absolutely wonderful, deserves every respect and haven't won the hearts of millions without reason, but realization that I can walk around town and pass by a dozen or so girls and women who emanates the same olfactivity is not something I aspire to. It's arduous to achieve excellence with designers perfumes, they're devised for a widespread commercial network and their objective is homogeneous uniformity.
Purchasing generates ineffable excitement in me, starting with the search for the proper parlor and then live browsing of brands that I fantasized about and knew them only through pictures in newspaper. The moment when I found myself surrounded by an abundance of divine odors I would portray as heaven on earth, because niche perfumes, by virtue of their sublime reflections, exhibits the miraculous sights, they are more than perfumes, the swirls of feelings in bottles. They represent the classic elegance and manifestation of luxury, as Roja Dove, one of the leading perfumers of today, brilliantly points out: „Packaging is seduction, perfume is love affair.“ I can't disagree with him – the bottle is what allures me, while the liquid within enchants me and sweeps me of my feet.
It's not easy to fathom if you're not such an admirer of perfumes, but non other article, whether shoes, dresses or makeup, can be compared to the floods of thrill with which they imbibe me. Depending on the mood and occasion, each day a varying one is on my repertoire, equally designer's and niche, but I must admit that on account of the latter I receive more compliments, queries and bursts of delight, and I successfully avoid observations like „you smell exactly as my friend“ or „that's my favorite perfume too“. Extravagance and pushing the boundaries frequently bewilders our surroundings, but every clash of recurrent and extraordinary marks the staging of a true avant-garde in selection of scent that will shape your tale, and you are in the best position to know where to direct its flow.
Armani/Privé Haute Couture fragrances emerge from the innate beauty of inceptive substance, and the corpus radiates versatility appropriate for men and women. La Collection, La Collection Mille Et Une Nuits, La Collection Les Terres Précieuses and Les Eaux are available in 100 millilitre emballage and the distinguishing role is played by physique and shutter. I awarded myself with Rose Alexandrie from Les Eaux array, which in literal translation from French means water, whose translucent bottles with black coverlids charmingly rodomontade in their lavish simplicity.
Giorgio Armani, by veneration of fragile yet resilient flower, bestow tribute to nature and mythical gardens and launch their gracility in the expression of light. Damascus rose, sprung from the embrace of Gallic and Middle Eastern Phoenician rose, is an idyllic personification of self-confident sensuality: echoes of scarlet and golden silk fulgently meanders in the melody of harmonious whorls. Exceptionally redolent, white and pink blooms proliferates in small clusters of dense shrubbery. The inspirational adjectives as solar, crystalline and contrasting scent are encouraged by subtle diffusion of whiffs of fountains and roses in Alexandria garden and heralds the fresh and humid atmosphere warmed by the sun. An identical coulisse unfolds before my eyes at every surge of ethereal fragrance that, in a split second, conveys me on its tender wings to the lush gardens still dewy and bathed by the first rays of sun that wakes the lulled roses with its gentle kisses, into the arms of cheerful dance and murmur of vivacious water. When I sprinkle it on my body, as if I've woven it with a magical essence imprisoned in each droplet, a delicate companion that doesn't abandon me the entire day. Inimitable romantic rose is the key note of this perfume, with a noble addition of bergamot, tangerine, Italian neroli and yellow mimosa, all of which renders it perfect for spring and summer, while citrus tinges fetch the invigoration and lightness regardless of temperature rise, just as if the fairytale wellsprings of Alexandria disperse above you.
Did you have the privilege of acquainting Rose Alexandrie or another Armani/Privé perfume? Or any from niche category? What are your impressions? Write me in the comments?
Best wishes till the next post!

  30. Oooh! I love the packaging and vibe of the Armandi Rose Alexandrie perfume. It looks really nice and elegant. I agree with you - I notice that luxury brands don't advertise. I don't see Lamborghinis being advertised on TV... maybe because the market isn't there. Rich people don't watch TV? I feel like one of these days, I need to move on to a Chanel perfume, hehe.
