TOM FORD LIP COLOR ROUGE À LÈVRES - 08 FLAMINGO

Perfectionism… A concept that is more often associated with negative connotations than positive ones. In psychology, it is elucidated as a character trait that demands impeccability and setting high standards of performance, followed by compulsive and incessant effort toward achievement of unrealistic goals, critical auto-evaluations, measuring of value on the basis of productivity and accomplishment, and concerns about other people’s assessments. Perfectionism compels people to try to materialize unobtainable ideals and to harsh self-criticism in case of failure, which inevitably leads to disappointment, depression and low self-esteem. There are three important aspects of this term: self-oriented perfectionism, in which one imposes too elevated ladder on oneself; perfectionism that targets others, ie the establishment of extremely great expectations from others and particularly rigorous judgement of their work; socially prescribed perfectionism, whereby the individual perceives the reality in which the society burdens him with impossible and unfeasible endeavors. All of the above is classified into the category of neurotic perfectionism which is more commonly discussed, but apart from it, there is a normal one that stimulates the pursuit to perfection without self-destruction. Presumably the line between them is very thin and easy to cross, but I think there’s nothing wrong with the passion and fervor of begetting something extraordinary, as is the instance with Tom Ford and Lip Color Rouge À Lèvres 08 Flamingo.
Many people who shape the era with their professional activity points out that they’re perfectionists, for example in the world of fashion those are Karl Lagerfeld, an iconic designer who left the audiences breathless from one show to another, and Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, who is known to be the most influential figure in the same domain, and both are, along with other attached epithets, the perfectionists. „If one comes across sometimes as being cold or brusque, it's simply because I'm starving for the best“, are the words of Anna Wintour, while Tom Ford has stated: “I probably do have an obsessive personality, but striving for perfection has served me well.” From his boyhood days and growing up in Texas, he expressed the love for design and aesthetics by remodelling the living room when his parents went out for dinner, and they supported and encouraged him. If he conveyed desire to paint, they would bought him a canvas, paints and paid classes with a teacher, so in the end he reached the post of creative director of Gucci and YSL.
He is an expository paragon of a person who ventured in different areas until he found one that suits him best. After graduating from prestigious Santa Fe Preparatory School, he moved to New York to study history of art, but the next year he dropped out and relocated to Los Angeles where he wasearning a living by filming TV commercials. Later he returned to “Big Apple” and enrolled at Parsons School of Design with a plan to become an architect, but he woke up one morning with a comprehension: “What am I doing? Architecture was just way too... serious. I mean, every architectural project I ever did, I worked a dress into it somehow. So I realized that fashion was the right balance between art and commerce, and that was it."He began his new career in Milan, first as womenswear designer for Gucci, then in 1992. as design director and in 1994. as creative director. He held a position for 10 years, during which time he restored the fame of a renowned fashion house, as evidenced by sales increase from $ 230 million to $ 10 billion. When YSL acquired Gucci Group he continued to operate on the double, and it’s interesting that, because of Ford’s disagreement with new owner Pinault-Printemps-Redoute, Gucci had to hire four employees who were barely able to catch up with the work he was doing by himself. Once he divulged: “I love to work. If I’m awake I’m working. But working isn’t working for me, working for me is the way I am, it’s just fun.”
In 2006. he launched his own brand in which he devises clothing for men, strong and intelligent women aware of their style, glasses, accessories, skin care preparations, perfumes and makeup. I don’t know if you are closely familiar with Tom Ford cosmetic products, but in my opinion each of them mirrors perfectionism. The details on the emballage alone were stunningly delightful to me and the inspiration for classical, luxury packaging emerged from two of his muses, his mother and grandmother who, as claimed by Ford, was very stylish in a very Texas manner – everything had to be huge and flashy, from jewelry to cars. The box of this lipsticks adheres to the same rule, it’s bigger than any other in my assortment, and it’s crafted out of black and gold metal with a harmonic geometrical pattern that represents lavishness and glamor. I frequently ponder in fascination how such relatively young brand quickly infiltrated on global market and heralded itself as a leader. I suppose thanks to quality of the products and ingenuity and perfectionism of Tom Ford.„I’m a perfectionist to the point of insanity. Perfectionism is almost an illness with me. But sometimes I have moments where everything is absolutely clear and you can feel, rather than think.“It’s similar with me when I smell his fragrances – beautiful and carefully selected notes erase everything except pure emotion.
According to Tom Ford, flawless lipstick is the most dramatic complement, a facial focus with the power of defining woman’s overall look, and each shade is a modern rendition of elementary makeup. Rare and exotic ingredients includes soybean seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomile flower oil that form an ultra-creamy texture for incredibly facile, smooth and unhampered application. Specially treated dyes are blended up to fineness and produce the authentic, light-reflecting color on the lips. As you know, I’m crazy about lipsticks and I’m constantly on the hunt for new ones, so in that regard I share Ford’s attitude, and I would add that they also raise my confidence. The range is comprised of 36 hues, from nude and pink to intensive red and purple, which is more than enough for a satisfying choice. Meticulous precision is evident on the lipstick itself, that is, on the imprinted initials TF at its tip. I like the mild scent as well, noticeable upon utilizing, and the superior pigmentation allows just one stroke for full coverage, so the amount of 3 grams is slowly depleted. Unless you eat, it persists for hours, and even then the color lingers subtly on your lips. I needed a shade for summer, and since I prefer lively pink and coral in that season, I opted for 08 Flamingo. It proved to be immaculate for daily and evening occasions, so I wore it almost quotidianly during the summer.
Everybody in their private approach explains perfectionism and guided by intimate vision of fairness gradually delves into and understands perfection. The question is, is it necessary to be a perfectionist to occupy premier standings and enhance beauty or fashion industry. I believe that it certainly is one of the mandatory virtues because, as the definition summarizes, those are people who fearlessly invest tremendous exertion to ascend to stars and thus change the world. Healthy perfectionism is constructive and worthwhile, it's a trigger for effectuation of ideas, but never let it consume you and manage your life – like money, it's a good servant, but a bad master. We all live our lives, have our views on perfectionism and we must give our maximum each day, while not forcing anyone to tread on our path. As Vince Lombardi puts it: „Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence“, and Norman Vincent Peale resumes: „Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.“ For me, this is the prominent depiction of everything that perfectionism symbolizes. And don't forget, when you find yourself surrounded by radiant celestial giants, be happy, proud and enjoy your success.

  6. Perfectionism can actually be exaggerated, but when I buy a product (whether a piece of furniture or clothing, an electronic device or a skin cream), I wish it to be as perfect as possible.
I also find your color realization perfect - the flowers and the color of the lipstick harmonize wonderfully!
    Bedst wishes and happy wekkend,

  50. I think they are definitely two sides to perfectionism. One that is destructive and one that is productive. The line between them can be quite thin. If we don't aspire to great things or have big dreams, we probably won't achieve anything. However, if we are obsessed with achievements, we might end up being an empty shell of a person. Life is always more than a sum of visible achievements. A balance is always needed. Perfectionist can make us work harder and realize our true potential but it can also make us work too hard and make us forget who we are. It can be tricky to figure out what amount of perfectionist is correct. I enjoyed reading about Tom Ford. I knew some details from his life, but I didn't know about his business path. How amazing that it took four people to do the job he did himself- and it was only one of his jobs at the time. He must be a very capable man.

This Tom Ford lipstick is definitely beautiful, such a stunning shade as well. I'm glad to hear you had a lovely experience with it. The design of it has a note of perfectionism in it, being so sleek and elegant. The packaging is stunning.

  58. Hi Marija! I would have loved to see the shade on you! It's my first time visiting your blog and all things beauty. What I am in awe most is your writing, it pulled me in and made me think. I enjoyed your thought process on the subject of perfectionism and how you celebrate the healthy form of it. When I was young, being stifled by the imposed ideas of the perfect student, daughter or human by society and parental figures, I rebelled as it felt unnatural and rigid. I didn't know who I was, much less what the external world wanted of me. A healthy expression of perfectionism only comes later when I dropped thoughts and ideas I have of it. Anyhow, it's really nice to stop by here. I hope you're enjoying your week! :) xoxo

  60. I laughed to myself when I read the first paragraph of your post. When I saw the initial picture of the Tom Ford lipstick, I scrolled through the post and admired the different angles and packaging of this product and thought, "The work and design that goes into these products is driven with intent and making it look perfect." And what do you talk about first? Perfectionism! Lol, PERFECT :P
I'm extremely impressed with your writing, I feel like I'm reading an article in a prestigious magazine! Kudos doll! I've never tried Tom Ford's products but after reading your post and being educated on this designer, it makes me want to look into his products. You can say that is what good writing does, right?!
